Chris Mordetzky’s story could have turned out to be an underwhelming statistic, the latest in a long line of “too much, too soon” victims who were never able to realize their potential. Finding himself on worldwide TV with a marketing machine behind him at barely 22 years of age is a daunting set of circumstances to live up to, but the man then-known as Chris Masters did everything he could to carry his weight – most notably perfecting the time-tested full nelson and challenging anyone to display the power necessary to break it, a contest he called “The Masterlock Challenge”, a feat that wasn’t accomplished for two full years. After his WWE stint came to an end, some would see going from a global stage to a small-time independent card as a demotion, but Chris saw it as an opportunity. Chris set out to steal the show each and every night, streamline his physique, and prove his passion and desire to succeed. Chris took pride in proving critics wrong – those who said his best days were behind him or that he was just “a body”. Masters’ hard work was noticed across the wrestling world as it led to extensive international tours of Europe, Australia, and a return to WWE as well. A much more mature and prepared Masters was prepared to show the world what he could do… but it seemed those opportunities were fleeting at best. Hungrier and more determined than ever, Mordetzky headed back for international terrain, including Ring Ka King, and now finds himself calling Global Force Wrestling home, where he can finally showcase who and what he is truly capable of. As Chris Mordezky continues to adjust and re-invent himself, what will he do next to continue to raise his game knowing he is a part of perhaps the most competitive roster in the world today?
